How do I setup Outlook Express to get my e-mails?

You should have your Planet802 Start-up pack available for reference. You will need your POP3 mailbox name such as
m8490925–xx, and your Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server Address.

Please note

If this is an additional email address, and you have just requested it, you will need to wait 3 hours

from the time Planet802 set it up before using it.

Please note

Identities:
The ability to create separate Identities is a powerful and constructive element in Microsoft’s Outlook Express. If you are on a multi-user PC and require private settings for your email account, then creating an Identity will enable you to do so. These are customised settings you can have under separate names in Outlook Express. The ability to create Identities can also be used to access each different mailbox you have separately (although all can be accessed within the same identity if required).

1.

Having Outlook Express loaded, from the main window you will be able to set up Outlook Express to send and retrieve mail from the email account you have hosted with OneandOne. Click on 'Tools' -> 'Accounts' to enter into this set-up process.

Here a pop-up screen will appear, with 4 tabs - 'All', 'Mail', 'News', 'Directory Service' - Click on the second of these tabs - 'Mail' - click on 'Add' then click on 'Mail'.

3.

The display name is the name that will appear in the From field every time you send an email. In the available space, enter the name you wish to appear (for FAQ purposes the sample has Joey Doe) and then click on 'Next'.

4.

This step requires you to enter the email address you are configuring this account for. Click on the radio button 'I already have an email address I'd like to use'. In this case, the account is being configured for joey doe at the company Dough.com, hence the email joeydoe@dough.com. Type in the name of the email address you are configuring (e.g. joeydoe@dough.com) and click on the 'Next' button.

5.

Sending and retrieving mails requires the use of email servers. For your OneAndOne email account, the Incoming mail server is a POP3 server, this is the default server selected in Outlook Express, however if this drop down menu option has been changed click on it and change it to POP3.

In the next two boxes, the addresses for the incoming and outgoing mail servers are required. NOTE: This information is contained in your Planet802 Start-up pack, you should verify the correct server addresses before going any further.

The incoming mail server address (for all Planet802 accounts): pop.1and1.co.uk

For Standard ADSL broadband, the outgoing mail server address is: auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk

For Wireless Broadband, the outgoing mail server address is: relay.firstnet.net.uk

Click on 'Next' to proceed to the next page.

6.

Here you must have your email username and password for the account you are configuring ready. This information will be contained in your start-up Pack Login using your customer ID and password, click on the package you wish to configure, click on email management, there you will see the all of the email accounts you have configured under your package. From there you will be able to obtain your username and password for that specified email account.

Enter your username (m3488xxxx-xx) and password details, and it is up to you if you wish the system to remember your password or if you want to re-enter it each time you access your mail. Click next to proceed to the next step.

7.

You are done! You account is now fully configured and ready to start sending and receiving mails using OneandOne servers with Microsoft's Outlook Express software.

Click on 'Finish' to end the set-up procedure.
